Whole wheat bread

Another bread recipe under my belt. This time I went with whole wheat bread. And it turned out pretty great. I really have to start challenging myself more with bread… sooner or later it will become like cooking pasta…
Maybe I should start measuring and using all the different kind of ingredients. Or maybe I should start making more elaborated things such as croissants and puff pastry… Or maybe I should just enjoy the easiness of making bread and always enjoy freshly baked bread!

Whole wheat bread

  • 1 cup unbleached flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 spoons dry yeast
  • salt
  • sugar
  • flax seeds (optional)

  1. Anyway for this bread 1 cup of unbleached all purpose flour and 1 cup of whole wheat flour. Dissolve 2 spoons of dry yeast in 1 cup of water and add one spoon of sugar. Let activate and then mix with the flours and a bit of salt. I also threw in a spoon of flax seeds. Knead everything into a smooth, elastic and soft dough, adding a bit of water or flour if necessary. Let rest for a bit (as usual I kneaded in the morning and baked at night). When the dough has risen, form into a loaf (or into rolls) and bake at 450F for about 30 minutes (less if you are going for rolls).
  2. BF loved it... he is getting spoiled!
